Having the right tools to support the recruitment process is a critical success factor for Randstad, the world's largest employment agency, with over 2.5 million candidates placed each year. I helped them by leading a team of designers from Essense on a multi-million-dollar project developing an internal platform that better supports their consultants in finding the best candidates for each job.
I lead the design team of Novility, a start-up that developed a training system based on motion tracking and voice recognition technologies, to teach hotel housekeepers the correct procedures, ergonomic movements and required English language skills to perform their job efficiently and free of injuries.
By using a user user-centered design approach, I helped ATAG design an oven with features that people actually want to use in their kitchens. We created an award-winning product that can support experienced cooks while at the same time guiding novice users.
Personalizing your coffee so that it is just the way you like it is a central part of the coffee drinking experience, which is why I helped Douwe Egberts design this beautiful, award-winning coffee machine that allows users to tweak their drinks with precision, and to save their preferences so that they can enjoy their daily cup exactly the same way the next day, and every day.
A rapidly graying population will bring a lot of strain to the care industry, where nurses will have a hard time keeping up with the extra pressure. In this project, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and carried out by a consortium of research institutes and private companies, I was tasked with analyzing the user needs of nurses and care receivers, and to identify use cases for which remotely operated robots could lend a helping hand as an alternative to the shortage of workforce.
